About the artist
Iván Gómez Aparicio
Through sculpture, I come face to face with those hidden and repressed feelings of the observing individual, using it as a mirror in which to see oneself. In my line of work, the human face is the protagonist, more specifically the female face, which I combine with different materials such as iron, bronze, or marble dust with resin; in that search between the ideal and the natural, scenes emerge in search of those feelings mentioned above. Starting from a figurative line such as the face, it is sometimes mixed with more geometric forms, more characteristic of abstraction, but in search of that unity, in which two such different, yet at the same time so similar, currents merge into one.
