About the artist

Maica Díaz

Maica Díaz

Visual artist and interior designer, Maica’s current work focuses on elevating embroidery to the realm of art, transforming a domestic gesture into a visual structure of great contemporary power. Her work stems from a reflection on the tradition of women’s embroidery, establishing a dialogue between past and present through the idea of stopping time. She works primarily with linen, which she cuts, repairs, and transforms using the appliqué technique. From its openings and tensions emerge large-scale geometric maps, where light and shadow create a space of pause and contemplation, inviting the viewer to stop and observe.
